Our Partners

In the framework of its Development Cooperation Policy, Luxembourg's Ministry of Foreign Affairs constantly works with a great number of partners:

  • The government of Luxembourg has mainly established a bilateral cooperation with its partner countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, namely Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Laos, Vietnam, Nicaragua, and El Salvador.
  • LuxDev is the executive agency for the majority of bilateral projects that are supported by the Luxembourgish cooperation. Nevertheless, other partners are also mandated by the Ministry: Proman - supports rural development in Mali, Caritas- in Montenegro and Kosovo, ADA - has a general mandate for microfinance from 2012-2016 and SOS Faim - supervises microfinance projects in the rural setting of Mali.
  • Luxembourg's development cooperation maintains multiple working relationships with multilateral organisations , either by providing global financial support or by participating in the financing of specific projects that are executed under its own responsibility (multi bilateral projects).
  • The 95 NGOs accredited by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can receive financial support from the government for awareness raising projects (cofunding), they can be cofunded in classical cooperation projects, or through framework contracts for multiannual cooperation programmes. The majority of NGOs have their own website .
  • Due to its privileged relations with the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance is a direct partner of the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as many other ministries in Luxembourg.
